Marketing (and Events) Coordinator

Position Summary: The Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for maintaining integrated, multi-platform marketing programs to develop and execute new strategies that increase institutional visibility of exhibitions, programs, and special initiatives at the Chinese American Museum (CAM). This position reports directly to the Executive Director, and is best suited for candidates interested in the creation of print and digital promotional materials within the non-profit marketing field.

Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA

Status: Non-exempt (hourly), Part-Time (up to 30 hours a week); $20 – $22 an hour, d.o.e.

Main Responsibilities/Duties:

Marketing:

  • Work in concert with the museum team in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that support the museum’s exhibitions, public programs, educational development, and other special initiatives while keeping the museum’s vision and mission in mind.
  • Communicate campaign deliverables, objectives, and timelines with the museum team.
  • Liaise with our contractors and vendors, such as graphic designers and printing houses, in the production and receipt of promotional materials.
  • Oversee and coordinate the production schedule of marketing and outreach materials.
  • Track social media analytics on a regular basis.
  • Develop compelling content for, monitor, and upkeep the museum’s social media channels and website to maintain the museum’s online presence.
  • Maintain and uphold an organized filing system for marketing assets including, but not limited to design files, invoices, proofs, etc.
  • Assist with brand enforcement, ensuring consistency of design and language for all marketing campaigns and communication.
  • Assist with copywriting for promotional materials as needed.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Events:

  • Work closely with team members including, but not limited to, the Public Programs Manager, to develop, coordinate, publicize, and execute public programming, exhibitions, and special events.
  • Assist with event affiliated marketing and other arrangements as assigned.
  • Assist in the management and operation of the museum’s online ticketing platforms for events including invitation invites, mailing lists, live attendees, and surveys.
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in museums or with non-profits preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members and outside contractors across functions
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking when faced with various deadlines and workloads
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proactive, creative, and organized
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook preferred)
  • Solid time-management skills
  • An interest in Asian American/Chinese American history and culture
  • Reading/writing competency in Chinese is a plus, but not required

Other Requirements: Responsibilities may involve flexible scheduling and working beyond regularly scheduled workdays including evenings and weekends.
